HEMOTESE® is a high capacity hemostatic pad , as the manufacturing process keeps the helicoidal structure of the collagen intact. In its native form, collagen has a specific effect on haemostasis. When bovine collagen type I comes into contact with platelets, it causes them to cluster and form clots of fibrin.
In vitro tests were conducted on the blood of 3 donors to evaluate the performance of HEMOTESE® compress compared to a reference product made of oxidized regenerated cellulose.
Mean clotting time (without compression)
Product | Clotting time |
---|---|
HEMOTESE® | 11,3 min |
Gauze of oxidized regenerated cellulose | 14 min |
Wound care | Wound dressing |
Clotting time is faster with the HEMOTESE® compress than with the gauze of oxidized regenerated cellulose
HEMOTESE® is a fast-acting local haemostatic patch. When applied on a haemorrhage site, HEMOTESE® stops blood flow in 2 to 6 minutes depending on the amount of bleeding.
In vivo-tests regarding HEMOTESE® absorbable hemostat we conducted on pigs on a spleen and liver lesion model.
The hemostasis time is more rapid with our hemostatic pad compared to the gauze of oxidized regenerated cellulose
Site | HEMOTESE® absorbable hemostat | Gauze of oxidized regenerated cellulose |
---|---|---|
Spleen | 5,7 min | 6,9 min |
Liver | 2,2 min | 4,0 min |
Properties
HEMOTESE® hemostatic pad is resorbable. It may be left in situ after bleeding stops if conditions warrant. It is nevertheless recommended that excess compress be removed once haemostasis is complete.
Animal studies have shown that HEMOTESE® hemostatic sponge resorbs in less than 8 weeks.
HEMOTESE® has good resistance on the haemorrhage site. It is flexible and easily handled.
Indications
HEMOTESE® hemostatic patch is indicated for local haemostasis during surgical operations, when control of bleeding by ligaturing or other conventional means is ineffective or impractical. Our hemostatic pad may be used to stop capillary, venous and arterial haemorrhage.
Instructions for use [
HEMOTESE® our hemostatic sponge must be used in sterile operating conditions after adequate preparation of the site to be treated. [
HEMOTESE® is applied dry directly on the surface to be treated, pressing gently. The duration of application varies depending on the haemorrhage to be treated; in general, 2 to 6 minutes is sufficient. [
HEMOTESE® may be cut to size for improved application. [
HEMOTESE® being an absorbable hemostat may be left in situ after achieving haemostasis. It is nevertheless recommended that excess compress be removed. [
HEMOTESE® remains intact in the presence of blood and does not disintegrate once damp.
Single-use product, discard any unused and remaining product in compliance with current regulations for biological hazards.
Do not use the hemostatic pad if the double wrapping is damaged.
Presentation and size
HEMOTESE® hemostatic pad is presented in individual sterile double-wrapped packages.
